Fostering an attitude of gratitude for what you have has been known for some time to raise dopamine levels in the brain. If you, like me, sometimes wake up feeling low and often for no apparent reason, repeating grateful statements (or affirmations) silently to yourself can actually lift your mood. The more outrageously ‘gushing’ they are, the better you feel. I can vouch for it. Why not give it a try. It usually takes me only three or four repetitions to lift my mood.
